Is a Sexy Voice More Attractive Than a Pretty Face?

I read an article in Psychology Today entitled, Is a Sexy Voice More Attractive Than a Pretty Face? My question with the statistics and the studies is not whether a sexy voice is more attractive than one’s face but how they judged their findings.

There is no doubt that women find men with a deep voice both sexy and attractive – the late great Barry White had not only an incredibly rich, warm sensual singing voice but his speaking voice was just as alluring. We swooned over this man.

However, I disagree about part of the information regarding the female voice. The article said that “men prefer women with higher-pitched voices. Women with higher-pitched voices are perceived to be younger-as well as thinner.” In all my years of teaching voice, I have not found that men prefer women with high-pitched voices. Quite the opposite. Of all the great roles in the movies where a sensual voice was warranted, the movie companies did not select Fran Drescher, Wanda Sykes or Anna Kendrick!

There is a great scene in the movie Victor/Victoria in which the lovely and sexy Lesley Ann Warren is trying to seduce James Garner. Garner has recently switched his affections from Warren to Julie Andrews. You can see by his expression that Warren’s high-pitched whiny voice is turning him off.

[Incidentally, for comedy, a high-pitched annoying voice is a bonus. Listen to Jane Curtain’s nasal whine when she is playing a comedic role; then listen to her speak in an interview. Curtain’s ‘real’ speaking voice is wonderfully resonant.]

What makes a voice attractive is its warmth. A voice which is being powered by the chest cavity has warmth. Unfortunately, most people (99%) are not using their cavity in this manner; therefore, their voices lack warmth. Add the chest cavity to the placement of voiced sound, however, and you have voices like that of Scarlett Johansson, Michelle Pfeiffer, Angelina Jolie, Felicia Rashad, and Kathleen Turner.

The question I have for the statistics which were cited in the article from Psychology Today is whether they were questioning the men about their motives: were the men judging the female voice as to whether they just wanted to hook up with her or whether they really wanted to listen to what she was saying? A high-pitched female voice may signify thinner and younger but let’s be honest about the motive. A 50-year-old man looking for a 20-year-old is not looking for intellect! He’s looking for a face without wrinkles, breasts that are firm, and legs without cellulite! If she sounds like a bimbo, oh well.

On the other hand, a deep, rich, resonant female voice sounds not only more sensual but much more confident. Whose voice would you recommend for a company’s board of directors? Kelly Ripa’s or Julia Ormond’s?

Yes, you can sound more confident. Yes, you can sound sexier; however, you must first discover your ‘real’ voice – the one that’s hiding inside your chest just waiting to be found.

Movie Review of Crazy Sexy Cancer

I just saw the movie Crazy Sexy Cancer by Kris Carr and this is my shooting from the hip review, my knee jerk reaction. Actually, I was reacting as I was watching the film. I was once ignorant myself, just like her, in the start of the movie. My so-called incurable eczema was a better teacher, because I could see it everyday, no need for those special diagnostic equipment Kris Carr had to endure.

What first struck me was I could feel and see her FEAR. FEAR was in the air. Just because some doctor diagnosed her with some kind of cancer, there was so much FEAR, fear that this was incurable, that she was going to die. Good thing she didn’t try chemotherapy, radiation or surgery as her tumors were beyond reach of their medical technology.

It was painful for me to watch all those ignorant people in the movie… FEAR was killing them. There was one woman who was being consumed by pharmaceutical drugs!

I was unhappy Kris consumed so much grains at the start of the movie… that was a recipe for disaster. I was happy Kris stumbled upon Dr. Robert Young of PH Miracle fame, then the Hippocrates Center. What was unlucky for her was that these were closed minded, low-fat, raw vegan approaches. Raw vegan has a time and place, and it should be temporary. What was unlucky for her was that she hadn’t stumbled upon doing the detoxes… she did see the colon cleanses in the alternative healing convention but didn’t do it, nor did she do any liver flushes. What was unlucky for her was she hadn’t stumbled upon Hulda Clark and parasite killing. What was unlucky for her was she hadn’t stumbled on pollution avoidance… she still wore make up.

I don’t know if Kris Carr continued to take birth control pills, that would be a big culprit.

I am happy for her that her efforts had put her tumors on hold, but I would like to inspire her that that isn’t enough. Never accept disease. Fight with knowledge, fight with self experimentation. Kris is a good candidate to view my Cancer Cure Manual website. Make a checklist of what she has missed.

Kris must know there are levels beyond raw vegan diets, just add raw animal foods (wild ocean fish, grass pasture fed or wild land animals). Kris can go ahead and check her blood with the PH Miracle principles. Raw fruits, raw vegetables, plus raw organic animal foods with internal organs and raw animal fats will give her even better blood, better health.

I didn’t see Kris do any fasting. Orange juice fasting would have been great. VCO detoxing would have done her wonders.

Kris must know the pollution avoidance measures needed to have a better living environment. It is still consistent with Robert Young’s theories, I’m just saying there are levels of health beyond Robert Young, beyond the Hippocrates Center.

I can introduce Kris Carr to read up on Dr. Hulda Clark for her parasite insights and superb pollution avoidance measures. Then Kris should read and meet Barefoot Herbalist MH for his take responsibility for yourself, self experiment and be your own guru teachings and the very effective orange juice fast. Then Kris can read and meet Aajonus Vonderplanitz to be taught how raw animal foods and raw animal fats can be used to cure cancer. Put them all together and Kris’ tumors will all disappear.

Kris has the potential to be a cancer cure guru on her own. Maybe she will make Crazy Sexy Cancer 2: Now Cured.

Is There Any Difference Between Erotic Cinema, Sexy Reality TV Or Porn?

Before I was able to secure funding to write, produce, and direct indie feature films I started in reality programming. I created the America’s Wildest Bachelor Parties (AWBP) reality series. I enjoyed distribution success with it and was able to launch Slice of Americana Films. I consider myself a passionate screenwriter, producer, and director. But I also like to create fun and sexy entertainment.

I have been working with the same editor, Tim Beachum aka The SEO Bully, for close to 7 years. In that time he and I both get approached from time to time by friends or friends of friends outside of the entertainment industry that want to get into the porn industry. The pitch usually is the same. They have access to hot looking talent, a sweet location, and money to budget the shoot.

I was in Virginia Beach at a bar with Tim we were having a few brews when the waitress kept looking at me kind of funny. A couple of rounds later she asked me, “If I was really a porn producer from California?” Tim started laughing. He knows I do not dig it when people get the wrong information. That is why he kept laughing.

I asked where she heard that, the owner of the place showed her trailers for America’s Wildest Bachelor Parties and Fantasy Striptease Private Shows I had produced. She had won a battle of the g-string contest on the beach recently and thought there was more money in adult entertainment. She got $500 for winning the contest and showing her entire self to a rowdy crowd.

Like a scene out of a bad movie, Tim introduces me to the owner, and decides to have a good laugh at my expense. The owner pitches me on producing a porno movie at a beach house he owns. I always try to be polite in these situations with a “thanks, but no thanks” type of response, especially when the buckets of ice beer, top-shelf shots, and food are on the house. I told him I did not do adult entertainment, not because any moral stand, it just wasn’t my thing.

He had watched America’s Wildest Bachelor Parties California and Las Vegas editions on VOD and Fantasy Striptease Private Shows on DVD. He told me they were porn in his eyes. Tim knew what my response was going to be, he has heard me tell me other people many times. AWBP and Fantasy Striptease are on Amazon.com, that company does not sell porn. There are no sex scenes or simulated sex scenes depicted. AWBP is a fun reality series like Jersey Shore. There is drinking, strippers, nudity, and tons of laughs. The famous “tequila booty shot” was invented on camera with AWBP: CA by us. Fantasy Striptease is what I like to call tasteful erotic cinema with high production value.

Fantasy Striptease Private Shows – Sexy pin-up girls from your dreams come to life on screen. Six beautifully filmed vignettes blur the line between reality and fantasy. Hot Little Red Riding Hood, Naughty School Girl, Sexy CEO, Summer Girl, Latina Bikini Model, and Fiery Red Devil want to give you a point of view private show you won’t forget.

So tastefully filmed you can watch it alone or with that special someone. This DVD is a modern twist on vintage pin-up beauties. A sizzling soundtrack was added to enhance viewing enjoyment. This is one romantic journey you’ll watch over and over. Hell, I know for a fact the soundtrack is getting played in cars from So Cal to NY because the artists on it are spreading the word.

Even my good friend Tim thinks those titles could fall into the porn category.
I still disagree on that. When Playboy TV was interested in acquiring the rights for America’s Wildest Bachelor Parties I had a meeting at their production offices in LA. The executive I met with dug the concept, wanted to move forward, BUT needed me to include sex scenes and a cameo by a famous porn star in each episode.

Honestly, I do not know if I made the right call on passing working with Playboy TV, money is money after all. General deal points were discussed that included a guaranteed 3 episodes upfront, if it played well, they would produce 10 episodes each season at a fixed budget. I would act as the creative producer at a salary per episode. Their in-house production team and editing staff would do the rest. The LA production offices are designed to be efficient and crank out content. In no way is it glitzy at this location.

I still continue to pass on offers to direct and produce adult entertainment for newcomers with cash and a couple of the big companies in Chatsworth. I also pass on offers to direct mainstream indie films that I know are not going to work. I guess I still have not become a total mercenary for hire. I won’t commit to working on another production company’s project unless I genuinely like the script and producers involved. That is why I like taking ghostwriting and script doctor gigs. My name only appears on the check.

It would be interesting to get comments on what people think the differences are between erotic cinema, sexy reality program, and porn. Or if there really is any difference like I think there is. I do include nudity in indie films if it fits the story. My last two movies were about drug money, street power, and sex. So, it seemed a natural fit to have a couple of racy scenes between characters. One of my films Consignment does have one of the longest and top rated striptease scenes in cinema history.
